Join me bright and early at The University of British Columbia‘s 2026 CHES Celebration of Scholarship on October 21 for my roundtable session on:

WannaCry: Preparing Medical Learners for Cyber-Disrupted Clinical Care
As healthcare becomes increasingly dependent on electronic records, AI, clinical decision support, and other digital systems, what happens when that infrastructure fails?

This session was inspired by my University of Oxford National Security and Cyber: Espionage and Warfare Programme. As someone who works in medical education, I began thinking about how we approach strengthening our healthcare system given its vulnerabilities.

This 40-minute roundtable will explore what a curriculum for cyber-disrupted clinical care might look like including the core competencies, safe practices, and “downtime readiness” learners need when digital systems are suddenly unavailable.
