Many moons ago

I met this soul.

Will Anzenberger.

He was funny, kindhearted, and wicked smart.

Our stars collided in a law class.

He helped me memorize Latin phrases like pro bono.

He loved animals.

When he moved to Hawaii, he would bus 3 hours every day to the quarantine center where his dog stayed. Just to see her for a handful of minutes.

He did this for six months.

All his dogs held a special place in his heart.

Especially Dexter and Pi.

For decades, he worked to raise money for the shelters that cared for them.

He loved hockey too.

I’d bet my two front teeth that we were the only Boston Bruins fans living in Hawaii in 1997.

He loved Boston and Boston College.

And he could talk politics all night if you let him.

And I let him.

He loved photography and taking photos of his friend’s pets.

He was everything to me.

He was my best friend. A brother. A confidante. My Harvey.

He could sing. Back in Black was one of his favourites.

He could keep my chin up when life got me down.

He supported all my causes. Every. Single. One.

He understood the value in investing in others and making you feel wanted, loved, and appreciated.

I don’t think the world knows just exactly what it lost when Will left it.

But I do.

I love you, Will.

Wherever you may be.

I love you.
