“I’m trying to tell young people, in particular, that you live in a culture that does not want you to be in love with someone. They demean love; they demean the aspect of it. They think of it as sentimental and old-fashioned. The concept of love that I’m bringing out right now, and I want to tell you that the act of loving a person and letting go of all your defenses is a form of rebellion against the ugliness in this world. You’re doing something different. You’re rebelling against all the narcissism and all the defensiveness and all the closed-off elements in our culture. I’m going to fall in love with a single individual, and it’s going to be an incredible, transcendent, sublime experience.” ~ Robert Greene
I’m a huge fan of Huberman and Greene. Their most recent exchange is a definite keeper, and I think something that the world needs to hear.
Also, should you find yourself in Austria, you must visit the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere museum. Gustav’s “The Kiss” is an experience, not an object, and that is what distinguishes it from all others.
The Kiss, Gustav Klimt, 1908.
