And why is that? Fear? Inability? Lack of interest? Ego? Boredom?

Mazes
So! A little background! I met Matthew when I was in Chicago last year attending a conference. As usual, I was lost and found my way into a small coffee shop. I ordered an Americano and while sitting there, I noticed this man drawing these elaborate images of architecture and urban life.
I struck up a conversation with Matthew and learned about his incredible journey that ultimately led to Matthew’s Mazes. What I love most about his work is that it encourages play, engages the observer, and reaches across all age groups. And these puzzles are truly art! They beautifully depict the life and surroundings of those attempting to solve them. Just fantastic! And he has the world record for the largest maze! This puzzle is massive and I’m so ready to give it a go! Keep up the awe-inspiring work Matthew!

An amazing weekend on the beaches of Fairhaven. I love this place and all the magical things I find while combing the shores for sea glass.

Dune
More from our Saltspring trip! We stopped at Boundary Bay first and hit Dune Trail. Flatter than a pancake but very scenic especially on an early Saturday morning. (All photos by Stephen Hui).
And the sunset I slept through…I know, I know Stephen! I was just so tired. I have better sunsets in my dreams :).

Kidding. I’m kidding! But it’s true right? Bahahaha.
Solitary
Yoshitomo Nara captures frustration and discontent with such simplicity…it’s comical! His art manages to always bring a smile to my face. Nara channels that inner child…that stubbornness…that disregard for authority…in those piercing eyes. I’ve been able to see the works of many artists that I admire…but Nara continues to allude me…one day maybe our path will cross. Yes?
